Chinese outfit Hebei China Fortune have signed the Turkish international defender Ersan Gulum from Besiktas for €7 million.
The Turkish Super Lig broadcaster LigTV confirmed the news stating that Gulum will leave Istanbul in the coming days to team up with former Trabzonspor midfielder Stephane Mbia and ex Roma winger Gervinho who also joined the club over the winter transfer window.
Besiktas released a statement on the stock exchange confirming that talks were underway.
The statement read: “Negotiations with Hebei China Fortune over the transfer of Ersan Gulum are ongoing.”
Turkish clubs listed on the stock exchange are obliged to disclose information of talks before announcing the official transfer.
Generally a statement confirming talks is a formality before disclosing the details of the transfer.
Besiktas also recently offloaded Senegalese international Demba Ba to Shanghai Shenhua over the summer transfer window.
Gulum does not take up a foreign player spot in China due to being an Australian national – the Turkish international is a dual citizen.
