Preview: Besiktas v Mersin – Black Eagles look to make up lost ground

Besiktas take on relegation battlers Mersin at the Fatih Terim stadium as they make up the two games they have in hand over league leaders Fenerbahce.

The Black Eagles will go top if they win their outstanding two games against Mersin and Trabzonspor.

Mersin are in the relegation zone but have won their last two games including a surprise victory over Galatasaray.

Besiktas meanwhile dropped points against Basaksehir on the weekend and cannot afford any more slip-ups with Fenerbahce on the rampage.

The Istanbul giants will be without Rhodolfo is out for the rest of the season due to an injury sustained last week against Gaziantepspor. Additionally January signings Marcelo and Delgado are ineligible due to being signed over the winter transfer window and registered before the Mersin game was initially supposed to be played.

This has left Besiktas facing a crisis in defence and will probably force head coach Senol Gunes to play full-back Tosic and central midfielder Necip as centre-backs.

Mersin Idman Yurdu will be without Futacs, Khalili and Sadiku, with the latter suspended.

Besiktas should still have enough firepower to outgun Mersin if this does turn into a goal fest.

Prediction: Besiktas Win / Over 2.5 goals
