Borussia Dortmund have signed Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Kevin Kampl for a fee believed to be €10 million.
Fenerbahçe had been keeping close tabs on Kampl and were reported to be preparing a January bid for the 24-year-old midfielder.
Dortmund released a statement on their official website confirming the transfer.
The statement read: “Kevin Kampl will sign a long-term contract with Borussia Dortmund, keeping him at the club until 2019. Both clubs agreed details of the transfer fee shall remain undisclosed.”
Red Bull sporting director Ralf Rangnick said, “The transfer to the Bundesliga is the next logical career step for Kampl. So he’s moving to a club who have performed very well both in Germany and in Europe on a regular basis over the last few years.
“He’s an exceptional player with a lot of versatility, who has developed brilliantly in the last two and a half years. We wish him the best and all the success in his new challenge.”
