Chelsea join race for Caner Erkin

Chelsea have joined the race for Fenerbahce full-back Caner Erkin according to the Sabah newspaper.

The report claims that seven clubs are currently keeping close tabs on the Turkish international left-back who has six-months remaining on his current deal.

Erkin has yet to extend his contract and would be available on a free transfer unless Fenerbahce renew terms with the 26-year-old.

The experienced full-back was reported to have agreed to a £4.2 million per-agreement deal with Inter according to the Express.

Erkin’s agent was however, quick to deny rumours that a an agreement with Inter had been reached.

Football agent Batur Altiparmak told Turkish-football.com“There have been enquiries but no formal offers have been made and no deal has been struck.”

Liverpool are also among his current suitors having recently sent scouts to watch the Erkin Istanbul derby against Besiktas.

Erkin has experience playing abroad for Russian giants CSKA Moscow and is a seasoned Turkish international.

The Fenerbahce star has one goal and eight assists in 24 appearances for the Istanbul giants this season.
