Emre Can expected to start for Liverpool against Swansea [divider]
Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is expected to start for Liverpool after an impressive second half performance in the 1-0 win against Burnley.
Can was brought on in the second half in place of Kolo Toure in defence.
The 20-year-old is expected to replace Lucas who may be rested against Swansea.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers also hinted that Can could make an appearance as a defender following the Burnley game.
“He played centre-half in one of the games I took in last year when I went to see him. He played there in a 4-2-3-1,” Rodgers said.
“I thought he came on and was outstanding [at Burnley]. We needed to build the ball better, our possession wasn’t so good and we lost the ball too quickly, which didn’t give us a chance to get into good positions on the field in order to keep the ball.
“Him coming on gave us that assurance in possession and also physicality when we didn’t have the ball.”
Can has made 10 appearances in all competitions since joining Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
