Belkalem ruled out of 2015 Africa Cup of Nations for Algeria [divider]

Trabzonspor defender Essaid Belkalem will miss the 2015 African Cup of Nations after picking up an injury during the 4-1 loss against Eskişehirspor.

Belkalem had to be taken off an hour into the game against EsEs after aggravating a hamstring injury.

The Algerian international underwent an MRI scan after the injury which revealed a muscle tear.

Belkalem will be out for a few weeks for club and country.

The 25-year-old defender  has three goals and one assist in all competitions for Trabzonspor this season.

Belkalem joined the Black Sea Storm from Watford this summer.

Algeria will kick off their 2015 AFCON campaign in Equatorial Guinea against South Africa in Mongomo on January 19, before facing their other Group C opponents Ghana and Senegal.
