Arsenal returned to winning ways earlier this week when they defeated West Brom by a two goal scoreline.
Mesut Ozil started for the Gunners but was unable to extend his assist record. Here are three things we learned following his performance.
1. Needs to improve his finishing
Ozil surprisingly managed to get himself into numerous goalscoring opportunities against the Albion. The 27-year-old took the joint highest amount of shots for the Gunners but failed to find the back of the net.
2. Ozil needs a stronger supporting cast
Ozil must be feeling he is on a different wavelength to his teammates at times. The World Cup winner has created a whopping 130 chances but just 15 percent have been converted. Arsene Wenger must be considering strengthening his options upfront over the summer – if of course he is still in charge next season.
3. Ozil’s teammates may have cost him a place in the Team of the Year
Ozil has provided the highest number of assists in the Premier League this season (18). The 27-year-old would have had more assists to his name had it not been for the profligacy of his teammates.
The Germany international missed out on the PFA Team of the Year earlier this week after creating just three assists in the league since the turn of the year.
Ozil has however created the most chances in the league (130) but Arsenal have the lowest goal record in the top four.
