West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan has hinted that on-loan Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike is unlikely to remain at the club next season.
Sullivan did not directly state that Emenike would be leaving but did underline that the club will be targeting a striker over the summer.
“We’ve put a bid in today for €30m for a player, and other bids will be going in,” Sullivan stated.
“We’re going to make a £20-25m for a player in England, maybe later this week.
“So, whatever happens, we intend to bring a top striker in.”
The Hammers do have a €10 million release clause option to sign Emenike until the end of the season which feels short of the €30 million bid the club will be making.
The east London based outfit will have a revenue boost from switching to the Olympic stadium and could still book a place in the Champions League next season.
Emenike has struggled at the Premier League outfit scoring just twice since arriving from Fenerbahce on-loan in January but has yet to score in the league.
The powerful striker was left out of the starting line-up in the last West Ham game at Upton Park yesterday and did not feature at all over the 90 minutes in the 3-2 victory over Manchester United.
Fenerbahce are willing to part ways with Emenike after he fell out with fans and the board last season but it remains in the hands of the Hammers.
