Liverpool star Emre Can will feature in his first European competition final against Sevilla at the end of the month but technically he has been involved in two finals already.
Can was part of the Bayern Munich side that won the Champions League in 2013 and lost the following final against Chelsea in 2012.
Despite not playing against Chelsea, Can reveals that the pain of losing against the Blues in the final was a painful experience.
“It was crazy, the whole city was crazy and everybody was excited about the game. It feels good to get to a final but it makes no sense when you lose, so you have to win the final,” Can was quoted as saying in the Telegraph.
“[At Munich] we had a banquet after every game away in the Champions League. This one after the final was not nice. I don’t remember it that well. On one side you are proud that you did well and you reached a final and on the other side you have lost. I don’t think it is a very good feeling. It was big pressure [at Wembley] because we lost the final the year before. When you are in a final you give your best.”
Can underlined that he does not want to go through the same experience again when Liverpool take on reigning Europa League champions Sevilla.
“Next week we will give our best to win the final,” he added.
This would be the first European competition final that Can has ever made an appearance in if Jurgen Klopp does indeed start him.
Can played a key role in the Reds beating Villarreal 3-0 in the Europa League semi-final second leg and is likely to feature in the final.
