Galatasaray have joined their Istanbul rival’s Besiktas in the race to sign Martin Skrtle form Liverpool.
The daily sports newspaper AMK report that the Lion’s are set to table a bid for the Slovakian international.
However, the report goes onto state that Liverpool are holding out for a fee in the region of €8 million, a fee Galatasaray may struggle to match given their current financial position.
The powerful defender has made just 18 appearances following the arrival of manager Jurgen Klopp in October. Skrtle joined Liverpool back in 2008 from Zenit and
Besiktas are also interested in acquiring the Slovakian internationals signature this summer.
“Besiktas is one of those interested in Martin but we’re haven’t reached a point where I can confirm Martin is going there, or anywhere else,” Csonto told Slovakian TV station Markiza.
The Black Eagles struggled defensively last season and despite winning the league they had the worst defensive record in the top-three.
Skrtel has now made 320 appearances for Liverpool since joining from Zenit.
