Liverpool’s out-of-favour centre back Martin Skrtel is nearing a Merseyside exit following reports linking the Slovakian international with a move to Fenerbahce.
Fanatik have reported that Fenerbahce are in advanced talks with both Skrtel and Liverpool.
The daily sports paper states that Fenerbahce want to negotiate a lower transfer fee than the 31-year-old’s €7.5 million release clause.
The powerful defender has made just 18 appearances following the arrival of manager Jurgen Klopp in October. Skrtle joined Liverpool back in 2008 from Zenit and
Besiktas are also interested in acquiring the Slovakian internationals signature this summer.
“Besiktas is one of those interested in Martin but we’re haven’t reached a point where I can confirm Martin is going there, or anywhere else,” Csonto told Slovakian TV station Markiza.
The Black Eagles struggled defensively last season and despite winning the league they had the worst defensive record in the top-three.
Skrtel has now made 320 appearances for Liverpool since joining from Zenit.
