Arsenal keeper wants revenge on Turkey

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has started in both Euro 2016 games for the Czech Republic and is likely to keep his place in the team for the final game against Turkey.

The Czech Republic must win to qualify meanwhile a loss against Turkey could see their Group D opponents go through to the next round.

Turkey did beat the Czech Republic 2-0 in the qualification group stages back in October and also beat them 3-2 back in Euro 2008.

Cech was in goal for both games and famously spilled the ball in the Euro 2008 clash which resulted in Turkey pulling off a memorable comeback coming from two goals behind to win.

The experienced keeper does not however, believe that previous results matter and stated that his side will get revenge.

“This will mainly be a revenge for the match in Prague where we lost in qualifiers,” Cech was quoted as saying by Sportal.

“It was different eight years ago, the players aren’t the same, we can’t compare these two matches.”

The final Group D game between Turkey and the Czech Republic will be played on Tuesday 21 June 2016. Fellow Arsenal player Thomas Rosicky will not feature as he is out injured.

Former Arsenal youth player Oguzhan Ozyakup is however, likely to start for Turkey.
