Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has funded the operations of 11 African children to have much-needed surgery as part of the Big Shoe 11 campaign, during Euro 2016.

Ozil told his followers in the video: “I’m happy to be part of it. During the Euro I will pay for 11 surgeries of needy children. That’s my eleven. That’s my favourite team.”

France international star Paul Pogba also funded the operations of 11 African children to have much-ended surgery as part of the Big Shoe 11 campaign.

Ozil has been heavily involved in charitable work over the last few years and founded the ‘Özil-Foundation’ in 2015 to support children and young people around the world.

The 27-year-old was also presented with a Laureus Sport for Good award in recognition of his work last year. Ozil used his World Cup bonus to fund operations for 23 seriously ill Brazilian children.

Ozil is not fasting during the holy month of Ramadan due to his national team duties but giving to charity is also considered a good deed.
