Man Utd & Tottenham target vows to remain in Turkey

Fenerbahce midfielder Mehmet Topal has vowed to stay at the club until the end of his career despite offers from across Europe.

Topal is reported to have told the Fanatik: “I want to be known as Mehmet the Fenerbahce man and that is why I have accepted what the board have put on the table.”

The Turkish international midfielder is however, still technically a free agent and could be snapped up by another club.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is keen on brining in Topal on a free transfer according to Fotospor.

Meanwhile Tottenham Europa League winners Sevilla are also in the race as are Greek giants Olympiakos.

Fanatik even claimed that Topal had reached an agreement-in-principle with Tottenham.

Topal featured for Turkey in Euro 2016 but had to place as a centre-back in stead of his usual defensive midfield position due to missing players in the back four.

The 30-year-old midfielder has won the league title with both Fenerbahce and arch rivals Galatasaray. Topal also has European experience having played for La Liga outfit Valencia.
