Sambou Yatabare – younger brother of Trabzonspor forward Mustapha Yatabare – put Mali ahead on 71 minutes.
Mustapha almost doubled Mali’s lead with a header that went narrowly wide soon after.
Cameroon found a late equaliser when Oyongo levelled the score. There was more drama as Sambou headed the ball into the back of the net just before the final whistle but the goal was ruled offside.
The match was the fifth 1-1 draw in the opening eight group games in AFCON 2015.
The other Group D game between Ivory Coast and Guinea also finished with the same result.
Mali had two Süper Lig representatives in the starting lineup with Mustapha Yatabare of Trabzonspor and Yacouba Sylla of Erciyesspor.
Galatasaray’s Chedjou also started for Cameroon.
