Germany lose their first game of Euro 2016 in which Liverpool star featured

Germany were dumped out of Euro 2016 after losing 2-0 against hosts France in Marseille on Thursday evening.

Liverpool star Emre Can made his first appearance for Germany starting in an advanced midfield role.

The 22-year-old had previously not made a single appearance for the World Cup holders and did look rusty in the opening few minutes of the game but grew in confidence as the match progressed.

Can was giving a role in the starting line-up due to several injuries and suspensions to key players in the Germany national team.

The Germany international of Turkish origin did not however, bring his side good luck. Coincidently the Germany national team lost their first game of the campaign in the only game Can started.

Antoine Griezmann ended up as the hero on the night scoring a brace to take France through to the final and take his overall tally to six goals.
