Emre Can made his major tournament debut yesterday starting in Germany’s 2-0 defeat against France in the Euro 2016 semi-final in Marseille.
We took a look at how fans reacted to his display on social media.
With Germany out there are now no Liverpool players left in Euro 2016 which was obviously disappointing for the Reds faithful.

Can took quite a lot of stick on Twitter before the game even started.

There were question marks raised over ow Can got to start despite not having made a single appearance in Euro 2016 before the France clash.
He was however, filling in for a Germany side missing Khedira and Hummels.

There were however, more than a few tweeters who backed Can and thought he put on a solid debut tournament display.
Why is Emre Can being scapegoated for last night? He was actually one of the better players on the pitch for Germany.

The match commentators were also pretty harsh on Can who actually had a pretty decent game and came close to scoring and providing an assist.
"We haven't seen Emre Can touch the ball for minutes now"
*Emre Can immediately gets the ball and puts in excellent cross*

The biggest talking point was Germany boss Joachim Low starting Can in an advanced midfield role as opposed to his central role for Liverpool.
Certainly for Liverpool fans, it's interesting to see how high up the pitch Jogi Loew has Emre Can playing. And looking very much at home.
