Liverpool’s Slovakian international defender Martin Skrtel has taken another step towards making a move to Fenerbahce.
The 31-year-old has been linked with a move away from Anfield after falling out of favour with Jurgen Klopp.
A source close to Fenerbahce told Turkish-Football.com that Skrtel will arrive in Istanbul tomorrow and join the Fenerbahce’s pre-season training camp later this week.
The Istanbul giants also released a statement to the Istanbul stock exchange (via Fanatik) last week confirming negotiations with both the Slovakian international and Liverpool were underway.
Generally the statements are little more than a formality before the club actually announced confirmation of the actual transfer.
Srktel is set to become the third player to join Fenerbahce this summer after Roman Neustadter and PSG’s Gregory van der Wiel who joined last week.
The Yellow Canaries will compete in the Champions League last season after finishing the leagues as runners-up.
