Several Barcelona stars are currently in Turkey having arrived in the country yesterday on the same day as the coup attempt.
Samuel Eto’o had invited star players from across the world of football to participate in his charity game set to be played in the Antalya Arena today.
Barcelona released a statement on their official Twitter account that their players currently in Turkey are all safe.
The La Liga champions confirmed that Arda Turan, Carlos Puyol, Deco and Eric Abidan as well as former club director Alejandro Echevarrio are all currently safe in Turkey.
The players are based in Antalya, on the southern coast of the country which is far from the incidents that took place in Istanbul and Ankara.

Andres Iniesta and Messi were also set to feature in the charity game but both players are currently in Spain.
Chelsea star Eden Hazard is also in Turkey as part of Eto’o’s match but is also reported to be safe. Meanwhile Blues legend Didier Drogba was also expected to feature but is not reported as currently being in Turkey.
The charity game has now been postponed to a later date.
