Besiktas are plotting a move for out of favour Chelsea striker Loic Remy according to the Evening Standard
Per the source, Besiktas will make a move for Remy now that Mario Gomez has confirmed he will not return to the club next season.
Gomez stated that he will not return to Istanbul next season due to the political instability in the country following the failed coup.
The Germany international underlined the reason behind his decision not to return to Besiktas next season via his official Facebook account.
Gomez was top goal scorer in the league last season and played a key role in Besiktas winning the league.
“The reason for this is completely down to the political situation,” the striker said on his Facebook page.
“There are no sporting or any other reasons that have made me make this decision. It is purely down to the terrible events that happened in the last few days.”
The Blues will allow Remy to leave over the summer if an attractive offer is made and Besiktas have been closely linked with the striker over the past few seasons.
Chelsea signed Remy for £10.5 million in 2014 from QPR but he has failed to lock down a regular role in the starting line-up since joining.
