Turkish Super Lig champions Besiktas have been closely linked with Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli over the past few weeks according to Turkish sports newspaper AMK.
Balotelli looks to be on his way out following recent comments made by Reds head coach Jurgen Klopp.
Last Tuesday Klopp stated that the Italian international has dropped too far down the pecking order to get a starting role at the Premier League outfit next season and that the club will have to discuss his exit.
“With a lot of players it is not the moment to talk of transfers as it could kill all talks by saying someone was 70 per cent to sign him or whatever,” Klopp explained, per the Mirror.
Italian football legend Andrea Pirlo has reportedly recommended Balotelli to consider moving to Turkey this summer.
Pirlo stated that Balotelli should not consider a move to China but instead a European club that can offer him Champions League football.
“There are rumours that Sampdoria want him and that there are offers from Turkey. I think he should pick a team that will play Champions League football and have a fresh start as it is too early to go to China,” Pirlo is quoted as saying by the Milliyet.
Pirlo also revealed that he think Balotelli can still rebuild his career and establish himself as one of the best strikers in world football.
“If he makes the right choice he could still end up being one of the best in the world,” he added.
Mario Gomez recently turned around his career at Besiktas ending the season as top scorer, winning the league and earning a place back in the Germany national team.
Gomez travelled with Germany to France for Euro 2016 and scored two gaols in the summer tournament.
