Villareal and Real Sociedad join Galatasaray in the race to sign Arsenal forward Campbell
“Playing at Villarreal for the rest of the season means a lot to me. I’m very happy for this opportunity,” Campbell is quoted as saying on his official website.
“They have a defined way of playing and it will be a pleasure as they are a great team that is well placed in the table. They have a style of play that will suit me.
“I hope I can settle in as quickly as possible and I am able to prove my worth. I can only say I’ll give 200 per cent in an attempt to win over the fans.
“I can do it through hard work and that is my intention.”
Inter boss Roberto Mancini wanted to sign Campbell during his time in charge of Galatasaray last season as did Cesare Prandelli in the summer.
“When I took over we were in talks with Pato, Ibarbo, Doria, Balanta, Marcelo, Douglas, Campbell and Song,” Prandelli was quoted as saying by Radyospor.
Galatasaray had been closely linked with Campbell this January but failed to land a deal for the young forward.
The Costa Rica international has only played 39 minutes of Premier League football this season despite Arsenal facing a mounting injury crisis.
Campbell has enjoyed three loan spells since joining Arsenal but Wenger decided to keep him at in London this season after a series of good performances for Costa Rica at the 2014 World Cup.
