Monaco join Arsenal in race for £20m attacker

French giants Monaco have joined the race for Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan according to Sport.

Per the source, Barcelona transfer listed Turan and will listen to offers that meet his valuation.

Monaco are reported to be one of several clubs interested and in a financial position to sign the experienced midfielder.

Turan is reported to be happy at Barcelona but if he were to entertain the thought of leaving the club would have to be in the Champions League next season.

Italian giants Inter and Napoli have also been linked with the 29-year-old as have Serie A champions Juventus.

The Sun meanwhile report that Chelsea and Arsenal are also interested. The report also claims that Barca could be tempted with a £20 million bid.

Turan is currently in England with the rest of the Barcelona squad as part of the pre-season tour.

Despite being constantly linked with a move abroad Turan does have another four-years remaining on his contract with Barcelona.

The 29-year-old also lifted two trophies for Barca last season and his manager Luis Enrique has backed the midfielder.

There is however, a group within the club that feel the club should consider offers that meet their valuation   after a summer of heavy spending.

Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut has stated on several occasions that Turan is happy and wants to fight for his place in the team.

“The interest is normal but the rumours saying he is leaving Barcelona are false, he is happy at the club,” Turan’s agent, Ahmet Bulut told Turkish-football.com [via Emre Sarigul who spoke to the Guardian].
