Manchester United boss is reportedly keen on a move for Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup according to the Daily Star.
Per the source, United are considering a move for the 23-year-old midfielder who is valued by his club as being worth £16.8 million.
United could however, face competition from La Liga outfit Valencia as well as his former club Arsenal.
Ozyakup does have another two-years remanning on his contract and although Besiktas do not want to see they could be tempted by an offer that meets their valuation.
What is clear is that the Black Eagles will turn down offers that do not meet their asking price.
Besiktas did recently turn down a bid from Lazio as revealed by club president Fikret Orman.
The club president did however, reveal shortly after the bid his recommendation for Ozyakup. Orman underlined that the star midfielder’s next move would be to one of European footballs elite clubs such as United, Barcelona or Real Madrid.
“Ozyakup will not leave for a mid-table side like Lazio. He is a top level player who won the league title last season and will play Champions league football,” Orman stated in a press conference in June.
“When Ozyakup leaves Besiktas it will be for Manchester United, Barcelona or Real Madrid. A club of that calibre.”
Whether Arsenal make his list or not we are frankly not quite sure but Ozyakup has revealed in the past that he would consider a return to the North London outfit one day.
Ozyakup first made a name for himself rising through the Gunners youth ranks before joining Besiktas in 2012 in pursuit of first team football.
The 23-year-old scored 10 times and provided eight assists in all competitions playing a key role in the Istanbul giants title winning side last season.
