Liverpool star Emre Can joined up with the rest of the squad six days ago in Los Angeles and is hoping to play his first pre-season this summer against Roma at the St. Louis’ 47,000-capacity Busch Stadium according to the official club website.
Can said he is ready to return to football after a lengthy break and that he cannot wait until the Premier League starts again.
“It was a short break for me but I enjoyed it,” Can told Liverpoolfc.com. “Last season was a long season for me. Now after the break, I’m ready to play football again.
“I didn’t have such a long time off and I didn’t lose too much fitness. I feel that in training.
“Of course, I have to come again. I’m very happy to be back and I can’t wait until the Premier League starts.
“Pre-season has to be tough, of course. We want to be fit for the season. Now is the time where we can prepare. Sometimes it’s not easy but we have to go through it.”
Can enjoyed an extended break after reaching the semi-finals with Germany at Euro 2016 this summer.
The 23-year-old midfielder spent time in his families home town of Afyon in Turkey before heading out to the US west coast to spend some time at Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
Can is not 100 percent match fit yet after spending three-weeks out but is likely to feature at some stage tonight against the Italian giants.
