Mesut Ozil is set to begin preparations for the upcoming 2016-17 Premier League season.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed an extended break after competing with Germany at Euro 2016 earlier this summer. Joachim Low’s side were eliminated by the hosts France in the semi finals and Ozil played every game for Germany during the competition.
Ozil took to social media this morning to update his fans and included the following caption, “London calling! #BackToWork.”
Ozil’s social media accounts have been under close scrutiny in recent days after his account was involved in a social media gaffe last last week.
Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan posted a tweet saying he had joined his Arsenal teammates ahead of their clash with Chivas.
The picture attached to the tweet was of Ozil alongside his teammates. Gundogan quickly deleted the message but it was too late as the gaffe had already been shared across the social media platform.
Both players have yet to feature for their respective club over the pre-season. Gundogan has been injured while Ozil has been on extended leave following his role in the Germany national side over Euro 2016.
