Brazilian legend Claudio Taffarel has convinced Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva to consider joining Galatasaray.
The Hurriyet newspaper report that Lucas contracted the former Brazil national team goalkeeper regarding the Lions.
Per the source, Taffarel advised Lucas to consider moving to the Istanbul giants.
Galatasaray have made the 29-year-old midfielder an offer and club sporting director recently revealed that he would not be surprised to see Lucas join.
Nazifoglu was a guest on Turkish sports radio station Radyospor when he underlined that the deal could go ahead.
“If Lucas Leiva puts pen to paper on a deal for Galatasaray it would not be a surprise to be honest,” Nazifoglu said.
Galatasaray manager Jan Riekerink stated that he wants Lucas to join in his last press conference ahead of the Manchester United clash in Sweden last Saturday.
Taffarel was goalkeeper coach for the Lions over a 10 year period before resigning from his position over the summer.
The Brazilian keeper won the league title as well as Turkish footballs first European trophy – 2000 UEFA Cup – during his time playing for the club.
Taffarel also played a major role in Brazil winning the 1994 World Cup in the US.
