Chelsea director Marina Granovskay has held talks with Besiktas president Fikret Orman over the transfer of Papy Djilobodji according to Fotomac.
Per the source, Orman met with Granovskay to discuss a number of joint ventures between the two clubs and also discussed the possibility of Djilobodji joining the club.
Beiktas were of course linked with the powerful defender prior to his move to Chelsea from France and attempted to loan him last January.
The Senegal international struggled for playing time last season made just one appearance and that was in the Capital One Cup against Walsall.
Djilobodji did not make a single league appearance since joining the Blues from Ligue 1 side Nantes.
Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho revealed that he did not even actually want to sign the defender during his time as Blues boss.
“It was not my choice. It was the choice of somebody I trust completely,” Mourinho was quoted as saying by the Independent.
“I don’t know every player. My job doesn’t allow me to travel, doesn’t allow me to spend hours and hours watching players.”
Besiktas have made strengthening their defence a priority after conceding the joint highest number of goals in the top three – despite wining the league title.
