Besiktas have confirmed that star midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup will not be sold over the summer transfer window a source close to the club told Turkish-football.com.
The Black Eagles have already loaned out star winger Gokhan Tore and Mario Gomez has revealed he will not return over the transfer window. The Istanbul giants do not want to lose anymore key players and after holding a meeting with Ozyakup and his agent an agreement was reached for the 23-year-old to remain at Besiktas.
The Eagles will consider offers for Ozyakup next season and are planning for his value to increase following the Champions League campaign.
The Turkish international midfielder also recently stated that he wants to remain at Besiktas this summer.
“There have been offers but I do not want to leave this season, I want to stay with Besiktas and play Champions League football,” Ozyakup was quoted as saying by Fanatik.
“I want to stay for one more season and then consider my options.”
Manchester United and Arsenal have both been closely linked with Ozyakup with the Daily Star reporting that the Red Devils are prepared to match the Black Eagles £20 million asking price.
Besiktas president Fikret Orman did himself state were Ozyakup to leave he would only accept a bid from a top Premier League or La Liga club.
“When Ozyakup leaves Besiktas it will be for Manchester United, Barcelona or Real Madrid. A club of that calibre,” Orman was quoted as saying by Turkish-football.com.
Ozyakup was an Arsenal academy player until he decided to leave for Besiktas in 2012 in pursuit of first team team.
The creative midfielder went onto establish himself as one of the most sought after players in the Super Lig and played a key role in Besiktas winning the championship last season.
