Liverpool star Emre Can is targeting silverware this season as he continues preparations for this weekends clash with Arsenal.
The Red’s have looked impressive during the pre-season with a standout 4-0 win over Barcelona.
Can was of Liverpool’s stars last season under Jurgen Klopp featured in the Europa League final defeat to Sevilla. The 22-year-old is confident Liverpool has a good squad which can compete for major titles.
“I am very excited [for the new season],” Can was quoted as saying bythe Daily Star.
“Everyone is a good player, everyone we have bought is good and they have showed that in pre-season, and we did as well against Barcelona.
“If you play for a club like Liverpool, it’s such a big club, then it’s always a target to win silverware and that has to be our target this year.”
Can started against Barcelona but could only manage 45 minutes and only played the first half in the 4-0 defeat against Mainz 05 on Sunday.
There are concerns regarding Can’s fitness and he is may not start against the Gunners but is expected to be included in the line-up.
Liverpool take on Arsenal on Saturday 14 August at the Emirates in what could end up being a clash between two title challengers.
