Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may reluctantly have to sell Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva over the next 24 hours according to the Daily Star.
Per the source, Lucas is concerned about his role in the current team with the depth and options Liverpool have in central midfield.
Galatasaray sporting director Levent Nazifoglu revealed that the club have reached an agreement with Liverpool and all that remains is for Lucas to make his final decision.
The Istanbul giants have given the 29-year-old midfielder 24 hours to make his final decision regarding Galatasaray’s offer.
Nazifoglu told Turkish-football.com: “We spoke with Lucas Leiva last night and he asked us for another day before making his decision,
“The situation will be clearer by tonight.”
The Brazilian midfielder did make 40 appearances in all competitions last season but mainly as filling the void left by the injured captain Jordan Henderson – who has since recovered.
Head coach Jurgen Klopp is reported to be keen on keeping Lucas at the club – at least until defensive cover is found. Lucas is not a defender but has played as a centre-back at times and the Reds are currently facing an injury crisis.
