Arsenal’s star playmaker Mesut Ozil has revealed that he helped convince Leroy Sane join Manchester City this summer.
Sane made the move to Man City from the Bundesliga giants Schalke 04 on a five-year-deal last month. The Germany international who represented his national at Euro 2016 cost City £37 million.
Sanne spent his summer break in the states with Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil where he discussed a move to the Premier League.
“Naturally, the Premier League was a topic we discussed several times,” Ozil told the German outlet Spox.
“I told Leroy that I regard it as the best league in the world and that young players can develop well there.
“That is why I was happy for him when the transfer materialised. He will improve a lot under Pep Guardiola.”
Ozil is the favourite to once again be the Premier Leagues assist king. According to the Evening Standard, the bookmakers have set Ozil’s odds to be crowned assist king at 2/1.
The 27-year-old recorded an incredible 19 assists for the Gunners last season, just one off matching Thierry Henry’s record of 20. The Gunners host Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday, kick-off is at 16:00 (GMT).
