Manchester United star Juan Mata faces an uncertain future after handing in his transfer request according to The Times.
Per the source, Everton are interested in signing Mata and head coach Ronald Koeman is expected to press for a move.
The Spanish international scored 10 times and provided 11 assists last season but has a frosty relationship with recently appointed head coach Jose Mourinho who sold him to United while he was in charge of Chelsea in 2014.
Mata was mysteriously subbed on and then off again in Sunday’s Community Shield clash against Premier League champions Leicester City which did not go down well with the attacking midfielder.
According to the BBC, Mata was taken off ‘because he was the smallest player.’
The Milliyet meanwhile reported today that United value Mata as being worth £20 and that Fenerbahce are understood to be interested in acquiring his services.
The Yellow Canaries are in pursuit of a new attacking midfielder to replace the likes of Diego Ribas and Luis Nani who left over the transfer window.
Fenerbahce would be able to offer first team and European football next season and are expected to be involved in the title race.
