Turkish giants confirm move for Crystal Palace’s £32m Liverpool target

Turkish league champions Besiktas have confirmed interest in Liverpool striker Christian Benteke.

Besiktas vice-president Ahmet Nur Cebi has revealed that the Black Eagles are making a move for the Belgium international.

Cebi said: “Benteke is a player we are interested, we are pushing for him and would want him to be transferred to the club.”

The Eagles want Benteke on a loan deal however, Liverpool’s priority is to sell the powerful striker for their valuation.

Fanatik report that the Istanbul giants are willing to offer a £2.58 million loan fee to cover part of his wages as part of the deal.

The Istanbul giants will however, have to rely on transfer talks between Crystal Palace and Liverpool breaking down as the South London based outfit are reported to have matched his £32 million asking price according to the Mirror.

Liverpool are expected to consider a loan deal only if talks between Palace over a permanent deal break down.

Benteke’s agent Eris Kismet recently told Turkish-football.com, that Liverpool’s asking price was putting clubs off but it now seems that Palace are ready to press the button.

“Liverpool want to sell Benteke but clubs that are interested as unable to match his valuation,” Kismet said.

“Liverpool would probably have to reduce their asking price if a transfer is to go ahead.”

West Brom are now also reported to have entered the race for Benteke according to the Liverpool Echo.
