Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini could be set to stay at Old Trafford over the summer transfer window following an impressive display against Bournemouth in the first Premier League game of the season.
United boss Jose Mourinho praised Fellaini after the game and underlined that he is an ‘important’ player for the club, signalling he could be set to stay over the transfer window.
“With Fellaini I always have the feeling that he was not loved by the general Red people,” Mourinho was quoted as saying on the official Manhcester United website.
“But, if he plays like he’s playing now, they have to love him because he’s being so important for us.”
Turkish giants Galatasaray have been linked with a move for the Belgium international according to the Express.
Fellaini has a frosty relationship with United fans and has been linked with a summer exit but could escape being sold if he continues to impress Mourinho.
The Istanbul giants want Fellaini on loan as they continue efforts to find an alternative to Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva after the Reds pulled the plug on his move to Turkey.
Galatasaray are keen on bringing in an experienced central midfielder on loan as they continue to restructure the squad under the stewardship of recently appointed manager Jan Olde Riekerink.
The Lions won the Super Cup on Saturday beating Super Lig champions Besiktas in a penalty shoot out.
