Manchester United sent scouts to keep tabs on Besiktas star Oguzhan Ozyakup in the Black Eagles opening game of the season according a source close to the club told Turkish-football.com.

Per the source, United are interested in Ozyakup and have been keeping close tabs on the Turkish international midfielder since last season.

Ozyakup impressed his scouts with a man of the match performance, scoring the opening goal with a brilliant solo effort.

The 23-year-old orchestrated the midfield and was behind most of the attacking moves pulling of an impressive 78 passes with an 82 percent accuracy.

Ozyakup had more touches on the ball than any other player (94) and dribbled past more opposition players than all his teammates (3).

United are reported to be keeping close tabs on Ozyakup according to the Daily Star and ready to offer £20 million for his services.

The former Arsenal youngster does have another two-years remaining on his current deal and despite being keen on a return to the Premier League he did underlined that he wants to see out another 12 months at Besiktas first.

Ozyakup played a key role in the Black Eagles winning the league title last season scoring 10 times and providing eight assists. The former Dutch U21 international will play his first Champions League campaign this season.

“I have never made any secret of wanting to play in England or Europe but I am focused on the Champions League right now and defending the league title,” Ozyakup was quoted as saying.
