Benfica midfielder Anderson Talisca has arrived in Istanbul. Turkey ahead of completing his move to Besiktas.

Talisca will join the Black Eagles on a loan deal with a buyout clause option expected to fetch €25 million.

The 22-year-old was closely linked with a £20 million move to Wolves last week but the deal reportedly fell through partly because he did not have a work permit and partly because he wanted Champions League football.

The Sun reported that Championship outfit Wolves were nearing a £20 million deal with the Brazil international following their takeover by Chinese investors Fosun in what would have been a marquee signing.

A Bola journalist Rui Miguel Melo described Talisca to Turkish-football.com as being a bright young prospect with potential if given a chance.

Melo said: “He is a good player with a nice left foot and is just 22 with a lot of time to grow.”

Talisca is highly rated in Portugal in Brazil. Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho praised the young midfielder two-years ago during his time in charge of Chelsea, praising Benfica for signing him.

Speaking to Portuguese broadcaster TVI24, back in 2014 Mourinho said: “I think Benfica hired well. They say Talisca is unknown, but he is only so unknown because he’s only not playing in England because he doesn’t have a work permit. If he had one, he would be here!

“There were many English teams, great teams and important, that wanted him. Moreover, there were those who wanted to sign him, even though he could not play for now.

“They wanted to sign him, put him in a minor league [on loan] and hope that eventually he came to be selected [for Brazil’s national team], and would consequently then get the work permit.”
