Atletico Madrid have their sights set on signing Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Calhanoglu according to Turkish sports newspaper AMK.

When asked if he will stay at Bayer Leverkusen, Calhanoglu responded by saying: “You never know in football what will happen.”

Calhanoglu does however, believe he will stay at the club over the summer and that the current crop of players have a lot of potential.

“But this season I will stay. I will now aim to take the next step forward and be successful at this youthful team that has a lot of potential.”

The 22-year-old has revealed in the past that he wants to play in England or Spain in the future and Atleti would be able to offer him Champions League football as well as a title fight.
