Bayer Leverkusen completed the transfer of 25-year-old centre-back Dragovic from Dynamo Kiev on a five year deal according to the official club website.
The Austrian international’s arrival could signal a green light for Omer Toprak to leave as Bayer will have Toprak, Jonathan Tah and Kyriakos Papadopoulos all competing for a place in defence.
The Bundesliga giants will now have cover in the case of Toprak parting ways with the club and Arsenal are reported to be prepared to step in.
Arsenal are running out of time to sign a defender and could really do with strengthening their back line considering Per Mertesacker and Gabriel are both out injured.
The Gunners were close to signing Mustafi but the deal has hit the rocks with Valencia manager Pako Ayestaran underlining that his star man will remain at the club according to Sky Sports.
Arsene Wenger does however, have alternatives including Toprak as reported by BBC journalist David Ornstein.

Toprak did recently reveal to Turkish Football that a move could be on the cards: “It is not certain whether I will stay at Bayer Leverkusen, we still have a month and anything could happen until them.”
Considering Wenger has failed to land his other targets, Toprak may currently be his most realistic option.
Toprak does also have years of top-level experience having played 171 games for the German giants in the Bundesliga and Champions League.
