Arsenal have finally found a defensive transfer target who is willing to leave his team in Omer Toprak and a club willing to sell in Bayer Leverkusen.

The Turkish international defender has a £19.64 (€23m) release clause and Bayer are open to offers after signing Austrian centre-back Dragovich.

Toprak has also confirmed that he could be open to a summer move and did not rule out the possibility of leaving the Bundesliga giants for a new challenge.

“It is not certain whether I will stay at Bayer Leverkusen, we still have a month and anything could happen until them,” Toprak said earlier in the month on a proposed move away from the Bundesliga club, as quoted by Turkish-Football.com

Arsenal have had a recent effort to sign Manchester United defender Phil Jones blocked by Jose Mourinho according to the Independent.

The Gunners also had their pursuit of Mustafi thwarted by Valencia who remain determined to keep him on at the club and West Brom reportedly want to keep hold of Johnny Evans.

BBC reporter David Ornstein revealed recently that the Gunners also had Fenerbahce defender Simon Kjaer as an alternative target.

Fenerbahce do not want to sell Kjaer who has another three-years remaining on his contract a source close to the club told Turkish-football.com.
