Arda Turan has stepped up to the plate for Barcelona in Leonel Messi’s absence today and provided the assist for his sides opening goal.
The Turkey international knocked the ball over the top of Gijon’s defenders into the path of Luis Suarez who calmly found the back of the net.

Turan started in place of Messi who has been ruled-out for three weeks with a groin injury.
Barcelona went on to record a 5-0 win over Gijon and move into first place in La Liga.
