Arsenal fans were in a buoyant mood today after hearing Mesut Ozil was close to sealing a new contract with the Gunners.
According to the German outlet Bild, the 27-year-old is on the verge of signing a new bumper deal however, the Mirror have poured cold water over the report.
The Mirror states that Arsenal are in talks with Ozil and that the Germany international is holding out for a £200,000 per-week deal.
The daily tabloid goes onto state that Arsenal are confident that Ozil will sign a new deal in the near future.
The report goes onto state that Alexis Sanchez also wants a £200,000 per-week deal. Both Ozil and Sanchez’s current deals expire in July 2018.
The duo are expected to start for Arsenal tonight when they take on FC Basel in the UEFA Champions League.
Ozil has scored two goals for Arsenal this season but is yet to register an assist.
