Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Ömer Toprak disappointed with Fatih Terim snub [divider]
Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Ömer Toprak revealed they were disappointed with Fatih Terim not selecting them for the Turkish national team.
“There is nothing further to talk about, everything is known,” Çalhanoğlu said.
“I do not want to talk about these unsavoury events any further, I have shown how much I care and value the national team and do not need to prove myself.”
Toprak also refrained from talking about the gun incident scandal that rocked the Turkish national team camp.
“I do not want to say anything, it is all a mess right now, I will not talk,” Toprak said.
Terim has been heavily criticised for his decision to drop the Bayer duo and give Gökhan Töre the call up.
A friend of Töre pulled a gun on Çalhanoğlu and Toprak in an altercation last year.
Çalhanoğlu has made six assists and scored five goals in 19 appearances for Leverkusen this season.
Toprak has made more Champions League appearances than any other Turkish national team player.
