Galatasaray did not play ‘too badly’ says Yasin Öztekin [divider]
Galatasaray did not play too badly despite losing 4-1 against Borussia Dortmund in Champions League Group D according to Yasin Öztekin.
“We didn’t actually play too badly tonight,” Öztekin said.
“Especially in the first half. The problem is that you can’t afford to make even the slightest mistake in the Champions League because you’ll be punished straight away.
“We made a number of errors which led to their goals.
“It’s a shame that our chances of reaching the knockout stages are more or less over, but it would have been difficult even if we’d won tonight.
“We’ve got two games left in the group and we want to qualify for the Europa League. We certainly won’t be doing our opponents any favours.”
Öztekin joined Galatasaray from Erciyesspor this summer but the 27-year-old winger started off his career on the books of Dortmund.
The Dortmund born winger was part of Die Borussen’s a youth setup for 10 years before being promoted to Dortmund II and then making the first team.
Öztekin replaced Hamit Altıntop on 81 minutes and played the last 10 minutes of the game.
Galatasaray had four players born in Germany in the squad that faced Dortmund.
