Former Liverpool player Steve Nicol has criticised Brendan Rodgers for his team selection and Emre Can’s performance against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
“In fact, Brendan is really struggling. Liverpool have to get some results very soon to get the fans back onside,” Nicol said speaking to TalkSport.
Nicol went on the criticise the performance of the players.
“Emre Can was a disgrace, he didn’t get out of trot. Lazar Markovic looked lightweight at best and was man handled every time he touched the ball. Javi Manquillo was chasing Marcelo’s number all night.”
Can made 52 passes during the match with a pass accuracy of 92.3 percent.
The 20-year-old midfielder also won all three tackles he attempted and recovered possession eight times from the opposition.
Can who moved to Liverpool in a £9.75m deal from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer has missed much of the early part of the season with injury.
The powerful midfielder recently recovered from an injury which had ruled him out for six weeks.
Emre Can is expected to start on the bench this weekend for Liverpool’s clash with Chelsea in the Premier League.
