Scolari resigned from his position as manager of Gremio on Tuesday after just two weeks in charge of the Brazilian side.
The 66-year-old coach took over the Porto-Allegre based club just a mont after resigning from the Brazil national team following a disastrous World Cup culminating in a humiliating 7-1 defeat against the eventual champions Germany.
Gremio chairman Romildo Bolzan confirmed the news on the official club website: “He asked to resign this morning and I understood his cycle and capacity to take the club on had come to an end.”
The Brazilian giants finished last season in seventh place and missed out on Copa Libertadores qualification to rivals Internacional a fortnight ago.
Scolari won the World Cup as manager of Brazil in 2002 and has manager Premier League giants Chelsea in the past.
