Fiorentina manager Paulo Sousa has revealed that he could be willing to give Mario Gomez another chance.
“I always want to see Fiorentina win, even though the players were tired from the work we have done [in training],” Sousa was quoted as saying by ESPN.
“Gomez will soon start to score again. We just have to give him the confidence he needs to express himself at the highest level.”
Beşiktaş have been closely linked with the Germany international over the past week and were reported to have put forward a three-year deal worth €4 million per-season according to Bügün..
The latest comments by Sousa have cast doubt on whether the transfer to the Black Eagles will go ahead as planned.
Gomez was also part of the Fiorentina team that traveled the US for the per-season summer tour which suggests that Sousa may indeed still have a place for the 30-year-old in his side next season.
The Istanbul giants could face competition from Liverpool for the signature of the Germany international according to the Express.
Beşiktaş are in the transfer market trying to find a replacement for Demba Ba who was snapped up by Chinese giants Shanghai Shenhua on a €14 million move last month. Eagles have also been linked with Chelsea striker Loic Remy and Hull City forward Dame N’Doye.
