BT Sports pundit and commentator Owen Hargreaves revealed that Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Çalhanoğlu would be a great transfer for Liverpool or Tottenham were they to make an offer for the 21-year-old.
“Çalhanoğlu is the star he is the feature of this team if you think about Liverpool or Tottenham he would be perfect in those teams,” Hargreaves said during the game.
Çalhanoğlu starred in the 3-0 victory over Lazio in the Champions League play-off second let game at the BayArena. The 21-year-old has now scored in his last two consecutive game. The Bayer star netted against Hannover 96 on the weekend – his 22nd free-kick goal.
The Turkish international scored the opening goal and was praised by Hargreaves for his performance on the night.
“I love Çalhanoğlu I think he’s gonna be a superstar, honestly he’s one of the best strikers of the ball you’ll see,” Hargreaves said.
Liverpool and Tottenham have yet to make a move for Çalhanoğlu but he has attracted interest from outside Germany over the transfer window.
Serie A giants Juventus have set their sights on the Bayer Leverkusen playmaker according to Radyospor and the Metro linked Sunderland with Çalhanoğlu earlier this summer.
The 21-year-old joined the Bundesliga outfit on a €15 million transfer last season and has four-years left on his contract.
