Shanghai Shenhua striker Demba Ba has revealed that his favourite moments at Beşiktaş last season were the games against Liverpool and Arsenal as well as scoring a hat-trick against Feyenoord.
“There are many memorable matches but I will never forget the game against Liverpool, Arsenal and the hat-trick against Feyenoord,” Ba told AMK.
Beşiktaş took on Arsenal in the Champions League playoff stages last season drawing the first leg 0-0 in Istanbul before a narrow 1-0 defeat at the Emirates.
Slaven Bilic who was manager of the Black Eagles last season did however, get his revenge on Arsenal as West Ham head coach beating the Gunners 2-0 at the Emirates.
The Istanbul giants drew Liverpool in the Europa League Round of 32 last season with Ba in the team. The Eagles knocked the Reds out of the competition on penalty shoot-outs.
Ba is of course no stranger to Liverpool fans having scored the goal that dealt the Reds a hammer blow in their bid to become 2013-14 Premier League champions during his stint at Chelsea.
Steven Gerrard’s infamous slip against Chelsea allowed Ba a free run on goal to give the Blues the lead. Liverpool’s title challenge suffered a huge blow following the 2-0 loss.
The Senegalese international also scored a hat-trick against Feyenoord in the Champions League playoff stages for the Eagles.
Ba scored 29 goals in all competitions for the Turkish Super League outfit last season before joining Chinese giants Shenhua on a €14 million transfer over the summer.
