Fenerbahce held talks with Manchester United winger Memphis Depay over a loan deal a source close to the Istanbul giants told Turkish-football.

Per the source, an agreement was not reached and Depay is unlikely to join Fenerbahce on a temporary move over the winter.

Fenerbahce boss Dick Advocaat was keen on bringing in Depay who he has a long history with. The Dutch coach gave Depay his debut back when he was coach of PSV.

Advocaat has managed to get the best out of his Dutch players at Fenerbahce this season with on-loan Sunderland winger Jeremain Lens firing on all cylinders and Robin van Persie establishing himself as a star player after a shaky start under former manager Vitor Pereira.

Depay has fallen out of favour with current United manager Jose Mourinho and is expected to leave over the winter transfer window.

The 22-year-old joined the Red Devils for £25 million in 2015 but has struggled to lock down a first-team role.

Depay found the back of the net seven times in 45 appearances last season but has played just 20 minutes of football in the Premier League over the current campaign under Mourinho.

Premier League outfit Everton have also been closely linked with the Netherlands international.

In other Man Utd transfer news the Sun report that Marseille have joined the race to sign Morgan Schneiderlin.
